We are exceptionally proud of the newly-minted Dr. Cedric Xia, who sailed through his neuroscience PhD thesis defense today. Cedric's thesis included two main parts. First, he used multi-view machine learning tools to find patterns of functional connectivity that are linked to dissociable dimensions of psychopathology (Nature Communications, 2018). Second, building on this work, he developed a novel multi-scale network regression method that is both highly accurate and easily interpretable. In addition to these accomplishments, Cedric won many awards, including the Blavatnik Fellowship, an SOBP travel award, and being named the Jon Epstein Scholar of the Interuban Clinical Club.
